E.O.T.C week

MONDAY
First we did a mini master chef and we had groups of three or four, in my group I had Cushla and Molly. First one of out team members had to get a number out of a hat and that decided what we had to make, we got number 5 and we had to make apricot truffles. We had to work as a team to make them and we got points for teamwork, after we made the truffles we made our smoothie! I really enjoyed making the smoothie and it tasted really good so it payed off!

TUESDAY
On Tuesday we walked to the waitaki girls gym and the park across the road and we did some team activities and games, my favorite game was the one where we got tubes and a small ball and we had to get the ball to a pink cone without the ball touching the ground. After the games we split into two groups; the first group got to go rock climbing first and the second group played games like cricket and we went on the swings and slide! I really liked rock climbing; I even got to the top! it was all for Wednesday because we were doing abseiling.

We got into groups of four and got into a line and was waiting to go into the "Infinity Portal", When everyone had a go in the portal we all went outside and we had a go at making steam punk sculptures and the winners got a steam punk badge. Gangsta Granny - Character Description

Gangsta Granny-
Ben

Ben was a quiet, english boy who enjoyed reading Plumbing Weekly magazines while his parents were in a fantasy world watching "Strictly stars dancing".
Ben hated ballroom dancing, but his parents on the other-hand were obsessed, they even forced Ben to perform a dance in front of the whole town.
Every friday Ben's parents dropped him at his grannys house, every week all they would do is play scrabble and eat cabbage soup.
But one night it was different; Ben was about to fall asleep and saw that his granny was about to rob a jewelry store. As the story goes along Ben becomes a more exciting person, and is determined to help his Granny steal the crown jewels.

Gangster Granny

Gangsta Granny
Ben's Granny is not your average Granny, she smells like cabbage and farts when she walks without noticing but best of all she is an international jewel theft. Ben and his granny are now trying to steal the crown jewels. Ben must dodge his parents, to help his granny to steal the crown jewels.

Keeping ourselves safe

Zoe and Aroha are walking home from the dairy eating icecreams. Up ahead of them they notice an unfamiliar car parked at the side of the road. As they approach, a woman winds down the window and calls the girls over . Reluctantly the approached the car. "Hi girls. How are you today?" the lady asked "Were fine thanks," the girls replied. "They look like yummy icecreams. Your mum just called me to come and pick you up because she isn't feeling well" the lady said. Zoe and Aroha looked at each other and decided to run for it. They ran across the road and they quickly looked behind them and saw that the lady was getting out of her car and she started running towards them, they were sprinting in the direction of Zoe's house so they can be safe. They were about to run into Zoe's driveway but Zoe looked behind her and the lady wasn't to be seen, they started walking towards Zoe's front door but then a car drove past Zoe's house, the car looked very familiar; it was the lady in her car. Zoe and Aroha ran into the house and started shouting for Zoe's mum but she wasn't home. There was a knock on the door and the girls had no idea what to do they were frightened. Zoe told Aroha not to open the door but to lock it, Aroha didn't listen and opened the door; "Hello Girls" said Zoes mum "Hi" Aroha replied, Zoe was shocked she didn't even know what to say. Aroha told Zoe's mum what had happened, and Zoe's mum said she was at work and she got held back, so she wasn't home in time. Again there was a knock at the door Zoe's mum walked towards the door, and it was the lady saying that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding, and how she had no idea she scared the kids, "well, you didn't have to chase them" Zoe's mum said in a very serious voice; "Well...well... I JUST WANTED ICE CREAM!!!" the lady shouted, Zoe's mum slammed the door in the lady's face and locked the door. Zoe and Aroha are now safe.

Highlights of Term 3

Highlights Of Term 3
Term 3 was very challenging but I enjoy challenges;
during term 3 we did lots of art, including sharpie, dye, collage and pastel. I've also enjoyed cross country, I even got into North Otago's; but I didn't go because it was in Dunedin and I thought it was a bit far for a ten minute race.

There were many challenges, but one main one for me was working in loud environments with people distracting me. But now I have moved to Elite Special Forces, so I will be able to go and work in quiet spaces by myself. Another challenge for me was working in groups because I found it difficult to just work together and concentrate.

Throughout this term i've learnt many things like making mixed numbers and turning them into improper fractions. I’ve also learnt lots of things about my chosen career as Interior designer for my career studies inquiry.

I can’t wait for term 4 and what remains because we are going to be working closer with the year 7’s.

The Moon And God

The Moon And God
There used to be people who wondered about the moon, some people even thought that the moon was made out of the dairy product we know as cheese, before Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, the moon was a mystery to humans.

Some people relate the moon to god because they are both mysterious to humans, because people don't know much about the moon and God.

The moon reminds me of God because the moon shines bright just like God, even though you may not see God or the moon I know it’s always there.

Book Review - 26 story treehouse

26 storey treehouse
This book is the prequel of “The 13 storey Tree House”. The 26 Storey Tree House is written by Andy griffiths and is illustrated by Terry denton. This book includes new tasks for the boys to get through. At the start of the book Terry dropped his underpants into the shark tank to clean them, but the sharks eat the underpants and get badly ill, so Terry tells Andy, and Andy gets Jill to save the sharks. But Jill has to do “Aquapunture” (<- shark pun). Terry and Andy start talking about their pasts and how they met. This series is easy and quick to read but has little good describing words and is way too silly, but is good for a quick read.

Nothing in this book stood out to me, it was still really easy to read so its good for a quick read. Honestly it is to silly for my taste but i see why other children my age will like this book.

Obviously the creators of this series is trying to make it a comedy and an outrageous book for kids of all ages to read just for fun. There was no real message in this book, its just random the whole way through the book.

I would recommend this book for kids of all ages with a spontaneous and immature personality. This book has no specific gender so it’s enjoyable for girls and boys.

African Art

African art has been around for 2000 years. Originally they used paints made out of roots and pollen out of plants. The reason they use bright paints is because to show show their emotion and their culture. Usually they don't put their art on canvases they use different types of fabric. uslay the woman were the ones that go get the resources and they make the paint.

the rich & the poor

the rich & the poor
have you notice that rich people can NEVER have enough gadgets and clothes (etc) but they never realize that the most important things are so valuable that even the fancy shops don’t sell them.

poor people are happier than rich people because, poor people have nothing to cling onto, but rich people do because they think what they have is never enough, When really its more than they need. The poor are happy for what they have and and more thankful even though they might have not got the latest Iphone, and the rich just keeps gaining on stuff they don’t need to make them “Happy”, when all they actually want is stuff for them self to look better. Money can’t buy happiness and it certainly can’t buy you love, but to the rich, love and happiness doesn't matter to them, but all the poor can think about is life, happiness and how they will FIND food and water for them to live.

Why We Should Have Dogs at School

Why We Should Have Dogs at School
Today on wacky hair day we had a grey canine named Jazz in the year 6 homeroom and everyone was excited. We got told that we might have a school dog if we can treat it with respect and dignity. I think a dog will be great at school because it will help people when they are feeling down, because they can pat him/her.
People can read to the dog and the dog won't judge you if you do or say something wrong. Dogs will make school feel more welcoming and homely to visitors and students. It also relieves stress and everyone will be happy to pat the dog while working.

Character description - 29 story tree house

The 26 Story Treehouse
By Terry Denton and Andy Griffiths

This incredibly funny story is about the crazy adventures in their massive tree house. The main Character’s are the two boys who live in the treehouse, Andy and Terry and a girl named Jill. This is the book after “The 13 storey treehouse” but this book is kind of the pre sequel because it’s talking about the characters back story before they lived in the treehouse.
Terry
The goofie illustrator who has crazy and mad ideas for anything that comes in his way. He is not the brightest in fact Andy has a list of the most stupidest things he has ever done, even in the 26 story treehouse he does some beyond idiotic activities; he feed his underpants to the sharks.

As a child Terry would always have to listen to his parents, his parents where very cautious of him so they left him a padded room and his food was mushed up in a cup and he had to sit in a padded chair with a seatbelt attached to it, even his underpants were inflatable in case of an emergency!. witch came in handy when there was a fire in his apartment and since he lived at the very top of an apartment building he was trapped, and his only choice was to jump out of his window and he quickly pulled the cord off his underpants and he drifted of to safety. But unfortunately he landed in a river, that made him drift off to sea. But that's where he meet Andy in a swan paddle boat and they paddled off.
Andy

The spontaneous writer who loves Ice cream A LOT and Andy is slightly smarter than Terry, he also likes his 29 story tree house he found.

Andy ran away from his family and was running away from some pirates who made the treehouse Andy stole; Andy was running all around town until Andy jumped on a paddle boat and went out to sea and meet Terry and saved him, together they found a pirate ship.

Sacrifice - R.E

Sacrifice
Sacrifice means to sacrifice something for someone or something (e.g Jesus sacrificed his life for us.)

Sacrifice started when Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree; they disobeyed God. Adam and Eve now knew things only God should know so they knew that it was embarrassing to not wear clothes. God now felt sorry for them and killed a sheep to make them clothes, so from then on everytime there was a baby somewhere there was an animal killed for clothes for the baby to wear.

Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice because he gave his life for us, even though people didn't believe him and we were rude to Jesus; and Jesus still loved us.

Moment In Time - Cross Country 2015

Cross Country

I was nearly at the end but I was second and Ellie was close in front. I noticed that she was slowing down, "my time has come!" I thought to myself. I dashed and I gradually got in front of Ellie. It felt like I was flying because I couldn't feel my legs and I fought myself to the finish line. The relief came to me. I felt a bit dizzy but I was proud of myself and my classmates. I came first and bet the last years winner!

My Holidays

In my holidays I did many things, but two of the best things were- one, going to Cushla's house for a sleepover, and two, having Dawn over for the afternoon.
When I went to Cushla's house it was really fun. We played a game on the computer and on her Ipad, and we made random videos. In the morning we went outside and played with frost and ice. The ice was very solid and thick, and we put a lot of weird things together, and made a weird substance with it. We put frost, grass, sand and flowers together, and we don't know why we did it, but it was fun anyway. After a few days, my mum asked me if I wanted to invite Dawn over, and of course I said yes. So the next day me and my mum drove into town and picked Dawn up. When we got home, we drew some pictures and then we decided to go down to our pond since we can walk on it because of the ice frozen on top. My two sisters, Emma and Sophie wanted to come as well. As we walked down to the pond, I told Dawn that we can walk on the ice and Dawn seemed pretty surprised. When we got there we started to walk on it then we got some sticks and tried break the ice with the sticks. I grabbed a big rock and dropped it on the ice, it did break the ice and there was a massive hole in the ice! Since we have another pond, we walked to it and we found frozen tree branches in the ice. We walked on the tree branches. After we got bored at the second pond, we walked to the river, since we do live very close to a river. We weren't there long, because it's quite boring. When we got home we had to take Dawn home. I'm happy to be back at school though!

My Weekend Post!

On Saturday I went to Josh's 11th birthday party. When I got there all I could see was Mine Craft stuff, there was mine craft food, mine craft posters and even a life sized mine craft creeper! We played games while we were waiting for other people to get there. We played a game where you had to blow up a balloon but not tie it and as we were blowing the balloons up Josh's mum came around and wrote our names on the balloon so we would know witch one is ours. When Josh's mum said "go", we let go our balloons and whoever's balloon got the closet to the target on the ground won. Nisha won first, then when we did it again Josh's little sister Maykala let go of her balloon first and it was so far away from the target, but she won a prize anyway, for the furthest away! When everyone was there we had afternoon lunch and of course is was Mine Craft themed- it was very delicious!
